The Great Wave off Kanagawa rack is a first attempt at our new rack type: The Art series.
In this series, we will be depicting famous paintings right inside our rack. Be careful not to stare too much during your ride!
We decided to start this series with a classic woodblock print by Katsushika Hokusai, who had a huge influence on both Japanese and world art.
The original work was made between 1823 and 1831.
In the center of the plot, in the foreground, there is a huge wave hanging over a boat; in the center of the background is Mount Fuji. The action takes place in Yokohama Bay.
This rack is made of stainless steel all by hard-working Ukrainian hands. We cut steel tubes, bend them, and weld them with metal sheet parts.
This stand can be made in two variations:
Bas-relif
The original canvas was divided into 4 layers and each layer was cut separately from a sheet of stainless steel 0.5 mm thick. The resulting layers were engraved with elements of the canvas, after which they were welded together and assembled into a rack of incredible beauty.
Engraving
This variation is a flat sheet metal piece that has had a canvas engraved on it and then assembled into a rack.
